Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy, can't you see, sometimes your eyes just hypnotize me. And we just love your f

Okay, we will stop. Enough with the Biggy lyrics already, BUT IT'S JUST SO DARN CATCHY! ZIggy does have wise, deep-brown eyes and a lovely smooshy face and we just had to make him this week’s adoptable running dog! He is a sweet, gentle and fluffy dude, who wants to be your only guy! Street Tails Animal Rescue is looking to adopt Ziggy to a family that will make him their only pet (who can't relate to wanting to be the center of attention, right?!) Think you can provide the right environment for Ziggy or know someone who can? Read on for more information!

Name: Ziggy Age: Approximately 7 years old Breed: Herding dog mix Size: Large breed Ziggy has an incredibly sweet disposition. He is shy around new people and isn’t quite used to all of the sights and sounds of city life just yet, but once he adjusts to his surroundings and becomes comfortable with those around him he is very affectionate and loving. He is calm and mild-mannered and behaves like a true gentleman when interacting with people. He will gently approach you for attention, and will hang by your side silently observing and enjoying the simplicity of your presence and attention. He is already used to living in a home, so he knows the appropriate place to potty is outside, and knows quite a few other basic commands. Ziggy wants your undivided attention, and will need to be the only animal in the home. His previous owners realized this after many years of trying to make it work with another dog, and ultimately decided it was in his best interest to find a new home where he could thrive on his own. Ziggy knew love for many years, and just wants to get back to that feeling again.

Ziggy runs at a more casual speed and finished a recent two-mile run with a Monster Miler volunteer at about a 10:30 pace. He is gentle on the leash, and doesn’t require much redirection during your run. If you slow down significantly, he glances back to check on you like the true gentleman he is, then he slows down to match your stride. If you stop, he comes to a calm halt and turns back as if to say “What’s going on back there?” The Monster Miler volunteers hope to continue to run with Ziggy while he waits for a new home, and plan to see if he is willing and able to go for longer distances. His thick and soft coat will certainly allow him to enjoy cool weather runs, so it’s the perfect time to consider adopting him!

If you’re interested in adopting Ziggy, you can find him at Street Tails Animal Rescue in Northern Liberties. You can fill out an adoption application here, or contact them by phone (267-761-9434) or email (info@streettails.org).
