Milers and Friends,

We won't bury the lede - after much thought and reflection we have made the hard decision that it's time. It's time for us to hang up our running shoes (or time for us to run off into the sunset... choose whatever image you prefer).
We haven't been as active as we would like over the past few years. We could blame that on the pandemic disruption, and that would be true in part, but it's not the whole explanation. As we noted in our April 2022 message, our lives have been evolving.  Kids, jobs, moves, running injuries... it's made it harder for us to go back to the full-fledged volunteer organization and coordination of the past. We've spent hours brainstorming an evolution or pivot more suited to the present time, but we haven't thought of anything that's not already being addressed by other local non-profits.

So, with misty eyes, we plan to dissolve the entity that is the Monster Milers over the coming months. Any remaining assets will be granted to two of our shelter partners, Street Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) and Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), in support of their rescue efforts.

While the entity is dissolving, we like to think the spirit of the Monster Milers will live on through our partners and friends.  Through you. What started as an idea in 2011 took off and inspired imitators across the country. We're proud of the good we've done and the legacy we've left. It's been a great run (pun 100% intended) and we have our supporters to thank.

Warmly,
The Monster Milers
(Carrie, Kathryn, Herbie, Guillermo and Rebecca)

P.S., Several of us plan to attend Good Dog's annual anniversary party on December 3rd.  Please join us there to raise a celebratory, memorial glass to the Milers' legacy and support a great cause.
